何謂維基學院?

維基學院為一新維基媒體計劃^[1], 探索以維基支援網上學習之道. 在首六個月, 此計劃將處 beta 階段. ^[2].

何謂維基學院 Beta?

簡言之, Wikiversity Beta 既是 Wikiversity 之元維基, 亦是新 Wikiversity計劃之孵養器.

Wikiversity Beta 協調各語言 Wikiversity 計劃, 策劃 Wikiversity 的使命,撰寫一般指導方針(例如,原始研究方針), 並給予新 Wikiversity 計劃發展之地。

眾多語言共存於 Beta 不會太亂嗎?

Wikiversity Beta 銳意吸取不同人士的意見和主張，而不僅限於英語使用者，以務求得到最佳的成果。跨語言討論不單單是為了共存，而且含互助關係， 跨語言討論系統的概念可令非英語用者亦能參與討論， Beta 並且用了語言選擇 功能發展，這功能可讓用家在一些多語言的頁面上選擇只看到自己的語言。

至於已有其獨立子域名的維基學院計劃-

Those separate projects are growing their way. However, their participants are strongly encouraged to take part into discussions about general guidelines that will apply to all Wikiversity projects. Moreover, they are encouraged to post reports about their projects to let everybody know about how it grows.

以後如何?

現在我們需要人參與維基學院 Beta 中的討論. People from existing separate projects and people willing to contribute to a future separate project should join the discussions and work together. People who do not speak English are encouraged to take part in discussions but we also need volunteer translators to translate the talk summaries.

這個跨語系統根本行不通, 因需要太多翻譯者。

如果大家能認真總結討論，不但有助於專注在改善問題上，而且無須花太多時間做翻譯。Beta 設立十日，已有五種語言於主頁上。

無論如何，這系統是一個構想，若所有人都說英語，不需要做任何翻譯那當然很好，即使最後系統還是行不通, 我們至少也嘗試過。

作為一協調計劃, 以單一語言討論更為實際.

Of course it would be more practical; the question is: should we manage Beta the way that is easier for us English speakers or should we manage it the way everybody can take part in discussions about guidelines that will apply to all projects?

越簡短越好，如果你希望自己的想法能讓其他不同語言的人能明白，最好把你的想法寫得精簡一點。

What is the sense behind splitting Wikiversity up into various separated language Wikies? Would it not be better to create courses and research reports in a multilingual environment such as Beta and have them translated in as many langages as translators see fit when new pages and documents become available?
