Wikiversity talk:A proposal for european project

From Wikiversity

This is a first version in a hurry, it doesn't comply with Babel requirements, I will fix it if subject is discussed.

English version[edit]

The european commission has proposed a work program eContentPlus, which we believe could fund a project concerning the wikiversity.

The call propose funds for educational content in a multicultural and multilingual environment. "The aim is usability and quality of existing content. Actions in the program will use proven state-of-the-art technical solutions and will be geared towards innovation in organisation and in deployment .

Wikiversity fits all these requirements.

The call concerns formal education system, which means compulsory, secondary general and higher education. This means that actors of such project should be involved in such education. I think that most of people involved in beta Wikiversity are also involved in formal education.

Wikiversity would have great benefits in such project, including non formal education, as well as european union.

The main problem is the deadline : 19 October 2006, 17:00 Hs. Luxembourg time. Defining such project in such a short time would be very hard, but wiki will surely help !

Potential works[edit]

  • Intercomprehension between language speakers of connected languages.
I want to begin a project in this area. This course is based on the EU proposal Eurocom, therefore I am pretty sure they could be quite interested on observing how their proposal developes on a educational wiki. I believe that multilingual educational resources can be created using links to wiktionaries or to WiktionaryZ. The goal is that users can easily learn to understand other similar languages to their mother tongue. Emphasis is made on reading and listening. With this course, the students should achieve an intercomprehensibility level enough so that they can understand each other talking their mother tongues.
The problem is that nowadays this proposal doesn't fit to any formal education system, or does it?... --Javier Carro 17:17, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you plan to use this material in any course in a school ? If yes, it should be seen as formal education. No matter it could be used by a broader audience! -- JmG 19:41, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not teacher in any school. I would like to encourage creating language learning groups at Wikiversity in this area. --Javier Carro 21:14, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
