  • Leurs défenses sont moins incurvées que celles d'un mammouth.
  • Leur dos est horizontal à la différence des mammouths dont le dos est tombant.
  • Leur tête est plus allongée et le dessus du crâne est plat : à la différence du mammouth qui a une tête en forme de dôme.
  • La taille est similaire à celle d'un éléphant d'Asie.
  • Leurs oreilles sont plus petites que celles des éléphants modernes.
  • Sa pilosité est équivalente à celle des mammouths, à la différence des éléphants modernes.
  • Leurs dents suggèrent une alimentation de broutage à la différence des éléphants et des mammouths qui sont des herbivores.
