Summary

Description
English: Process of smelting of iron cannons in the Real Factory of Artillery of La Cavada (Spain). From the superior part the blast furnace was loaded with alternating layers of coal and iron mineral (A). The iron, with smaller density, was deposited at heart of the boiler. In the inferior part of the furnace there were nozzles by where the air was introduced by means of great bellows driven by means of hydraulic mechanisms (B). In the base of the furnace was an orifice by where the cast iron flowed and it went to the pit in which the mold of the cannon was buried (C). Upon this opening there was another mouth by where the dreg left (D).
