Onverse

Onverse, or the Online Universe, is a social virtual world. It lets users to connect with friends, shop and simply relax from the everyday life.

The graphics are simple and cartoon - like, designed to work on any modern computer. Onverse is built on top of the Torque Game Engine. The use of Torque engine makes it available for both Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. The application can be run in high or low-detail graphics. High-detail produces better images, whereas low-detail removes delays on less powerful computers. There is a possibility of a phone application in the future. All the graphics in the game are pre-loaded in the client, meaning there is no graphics delay.
Users are able to modify his/her avatar and are able to get a free apartment to modify too, but the disadvantage is that the user can not create own clothes or items due to limitations of the Torque engine. This will no doubt restrict the attraction of the virtual world. Another limiting appeal is aberrant looking avatars. They are absolutely of the cartoon category and the customization is limited [ArianeB. (2009). Retrieved from 3D Virtual Worlds: http://arianeb.com/more3Dworlds.htm].
One of the strong points of this world the virtual world is family friendliness and ease to use. Onverse has one of the best tutorial areas compared with other 3D virtual world. By the end of the tutorial section the user will know all that he/she needs to know. The interface is simple and uses the usual keyboard and mouse controls.

The Onverse economy has a dual currency model: Player Points ("PP") and Cash Coins ("CC.")[edit]

Player Points – are free currency in the Onverse. Users are able to get PP through the use of tools or by playing games. Player Points are able to be used to buy around half of the items in the game.
Cash Coins - are the paid currency in Onverse. Cash Coins are used to purchase restricted items, pets and mansions. CC can be converted to PP at a rate of 1 CC for 10 PP. The user is able to get Cash Coins online for real money or freely by recruiting new users and participating in promotional offers. To sum up, Onverse is a mini virtual world. It should find followers who likes the cartoon look and feel. Kids and teenagers, girls in general, will likely enjoy the virtual environment and social activities.
