Welcome :)[edit]

Hi and welcome on Wikiversity Beta. As the father of the language selection system, maybe you could tell me why it seems not to work on Wikiversity:Babel? Thanks a lot, and welcome again! guillom 21:22, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I've taken a look at it, and it seems to be working for me (Firefox 1.5 and IE 6). Could you be more specific about what's not working (or give me your browser details)?
There are some troubles though: the Unicode characters, while a nice multilingual touch, don't display properly in Internet Explorer. I can't patch that up, because I'm not a sysop here. Which leads me to my next point: now that the code has found its way to multiple wikis, it's going to be a bit of a pain to maintain. I've tried contacting the developers but have had no response about getting this code into the Subversion repository. Edward Z. Yang 21:28, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My browser is Firefox 1.5, and Wikiversity:Babel seems to be the only page where I get a problem. Actually, when I enter a language code in the input box and click on the first arrow (the one you called Save), the language code is replaced by mul and texts in all languages are displayed, just as if I had clicked on the second arrow (which you called Show all). I assume this is due to the many languages on this page, because I have never seen this issue on another multilingual page on this wiki.
If you need a sysop to make some changes, just ask me, I'll be happy to help. guillom 21:37, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hrm... still unable to reproduce. Can you tell me the state of the page before you click on the text box and enter the new language? Also, I'd like to know the contents of the cookie metawiki_language_js before and after you attempt to do this (you can get this info by Options > Privacy > View Cookies).
I've got an updated version coming up that has better Show All behavior, so look out for that. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 22:18, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the new version's live on Meta. Try copying that over. Also, I recommend renaming the cookie to beta_language_js. — Edward Z. Yang(Talk) 22:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Updated. Now it works well, thanks! guillom 12:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
