Vogone (Talk | Email | Contribs | SulUtil) Hi! I am hereby reapplying for custodianship as I feel these rights could be helpful with the maintenance (including page moves without leaving redirects (which I am currently doing with my GR bit), transwiki imports of useful pages before translation, etc.) of the Lithuanian language test project and I don't see any other custodian being incredibly active at the moment. The Lithuanain test community has grown a bit (consisting now of User:Kusurija and me), and I hope the amount of content will do so as well. Another reason why I request these tools is the possibility to provide useful gadgets for the LT test project, which non-custodians cannot do. As the instructions require me to provide information about my involvement in other projects as well, I will do so shortly. I am a global sysop active in the SWMT, which deals with global countervandalism efforts, am one of the very first contributors to the free knowledge database Wikidata (I hold administrator and bureaucrat privileges there) and am also involved in the German language Wikipedia and the Dutch language Wikisource. Other projects where I hold administrator privileges on are: MediaWiki wiki, Outreach wiki, Test2 Wikipedia (also bureaucrat there). For language information see the babel boxes on my userpage. Thank you for your consideration, Vogone (talk) 23:37, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I have seen on Wikiversity the tradition, not to delete redirects. As pages, which exists for a long time, might be linked out from the Internet as many people use also other systems (UNI Moodles) and my link them. So deleting old standing name pages, might make wv less accessible. What do you think or know about this practise within wv?--Juandev (talk) 15:08, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
- I personally find this practice reasonable as long as the redirects concern pages which were formerly linked to and contained educational content in the past. Though, pages which never contained anything which might be worth linking to from "other systems" and are unlikely to be searched for can be deleted without any doubt, in my opinion. - Juandev, what if a page has been moved to a new domain, when a new Wikiversity is created? Should a redirect page be imported to the new wiki and then deleted? Or should it remain on this wiki as well, which would duplicate the content on both this wiki and the new domain? TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 04:37, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- You are right. This is an incubator, its not understood like a real installation. Theres no reason to export redirects, because we are talking here about URL links, which will definitely change. But more like for the future life Wikiversity it has a sense of keeping old existing URL namepages.--Juandev (talk) 19:51, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
