Kurdish portal deletion
[edit]The page is empty because there is no content it transcludes or links to. The Kurdish test project has no content at all. Why would it need a portal? And the red links are templates which don't exist either. The whole page has no value. AtUkr (talk) 19:12, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input regarding Portal:Zanistên siruştî. I'll ping @Pispor: and @Bikarhêner: to get their thoughts. If the Kurdish community decides to abandon it, I can assist with deletion. --

Update to Template:Main page
[edit]Hi! Can you please update this template as Serbian and Croatian main pages are now translated and unified under Serbo-Croatian, in line with the current LangCom policy. Basically, the following line should be added:
<!-- sh --> |
with sr and hr links being removed. Thank you in advance, Aca (talk) 20:47, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Can you also remove the following links, which are now unused/unnecessary?
- First link:
<!-- hr --> |- Second link:
<!-- sr --> |- Thanks for your quick responses and continued maintenance of Wikiversity Beta! – Aca (talk) 22:48, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi! I’ve added sh as requested. However, to remove hr and sr, we need more information, such as a link to the relevant Language Committee discussion or community consensus. Also, please consider posting a request at Wikiversity:Request custodian action so that it can be reviewed and handled appropriately. Thanks! --

Hello. This page is 17 years old, its only purpose is historical at this point. I'm of the mind that it shouldn't have translations, because nobody needs them anymore. AtUkr (talk) 19:04, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- While the page is historical, it still has value as 2009 UN theme year. According to Wikidata (d:Q204534), International Year of Astronomy exists in 38 Wikipedia language editions and 6 Wikiversity language editions. For languages that do not have their own Wikiversity, the multilingual Wikiversity serves as the appropriate place to host such content. --
(talk) 22:03, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not arguing it has no value, it's just not relevant for current works. It's a coordination page, not an educational resource. Wikipedia has encyclopedic articles. Separate Wikiversities took part in IYA and so have their own coordination pages. But no more coordination pages are needed because, obviously, nobody else will ever be participating in an event that happened in 2009. AtUkr (talk) 09:09, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Alternatively, if needed, the content could be recreated as separate “page name in language” pages and categorized by language. If you wish to delete the page, you may leave a message on the talk page; if there are no objections from contributors, it may be deleted following the standard process.--
(talk) 09:54, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- I don't want to delete it, I'm saying it shouldn't be marked for translation. AtUkr (talk) 10:00, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- On multilingual Wikimedia projects, translation marking is generally about accessibility rather than timeliness. As long as the page is retained and contains stable, historical content, allowing translations helps ensure access for language communities without a local Wikiversity.--
(talk) 11:50, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- There is no need for such access, as the page is dated. AtUkr (talk) 16:32, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Could you point to the relevant Wikimedia policy or guideline supporting this view? --
