Wikiversity:Test wiki custodians

From Wikiversity
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Test wiki custodians are an active contributors to Wikiversity in the testing phase and who take care of their Wikiversity in the testing phase.

  • Block a user from sending email (blockemail)
  • Block other users from editing (block)
  • Delete pages (delete)
  • Not create redirects from source pages when moving pages (suppressredirect)
  • Quickly rollback the edits of the last user who edited a particular page (rollback)
  • Undelete a page (undelete)

But test custodians may only use their tools on pages and users in their own test. In general, the maintenance of Wikiversity BETA is performed by custodians and bureaucrat. Administration activities beyond one's own test must be urgent, without custodians or bureaucrats. In that case, they have a duty to explain their action and may be revoked if misused.

  • You must have a userpage on Wikiversity BETA and be a contributor to here.
  • Your testing phase wiki have more than 30 content pages. (Except for translation and main page)
  • You are not completely new to Wikimedia projects and you understand and agree with Wikiversity BETA policies.
  • There can be several test custodians for one test. And if you need, you can be a test custodian for more than one test.

  • Place your request, including the name of the test in which you work, below at #Requests for test custodianship.
  • Users are given 5 days to place comments. After this period, requests will be reviewed by a bureaucrat and if there is no reasonable opposition, you will be made into a test custodian.
  • Requests for test-custodian are not votes. They are opportunities for other users to raise possible problems. If you get no comment at all under your name, that doesn't mean you are a bad user; it means no one has any objections to you being a test custodian.
  • You can alternatively hold a discussion in a "community portal" page of the test Wikiversity. After at least 5 days, you can then add your request here, so that a bureaucrat will decide about it directly.

Removal and renewal[edit]

  • Test custodians will be revoked after a domain request for their language is completed, or automatically after a year.
  • After one year, test custodians can simply request that their test custodianship is renewed.

Ynnarski (langcode: pl)[edit]

(I don't speak English very well so I use Google Translate) I am an editor on Polish Wikipedia, I also edit other wikis occasionally. I know the wiki's mechanism very well. I have created a dozen or so pages, portals, categories and others on the Polish-language Wikiversity. Unfortunately, there are no Polish administrators on pl.wikiversity, and someone has to be one to avoid chaos. --Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 13:06, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I've seen you make a few delete requests. In this, you requested to delete the redirect page without removing all links, and I am wondering why. Can you explain it in detail? It wasn't one, it was multiple, and in some cases transcluded. This is a question to make sure you are familiar with wiki editing and general administration knowledge. Thanks. --Sotiale (talk) 02:39, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
It was my mistake, I forgot about linkers, because out of habit I thought that the bot was cleaning duplicate redirects etc. (This is the case, for example, on Polish Wikipedia). Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 07:50, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I don't think there's a big problem with your activity, but still, it's been less than a week since you came here and started editing, so I don't think it's enough to ask for a tool. How about asking again after two more weeks of activity? --Sotiale (talk) 10:47, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay, I'll be editing for two weeks (or more) and then reapply. Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 11:59, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Good. I hope for your good activity here. --Sotiale (talk) 12:08, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

StasiekSkiJumping (langcode: pl)[edit]

Hi, I came here last year. Recently, together with my colleague Ynnarski, I noticed a vandal. I would like to be granted permission to block such. We will definitely manage in two. I also know Wiki mechanism very well. Regards! :) StasiekSkiJumping podysqtujmy! 13:26, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

I am applying again, although I was not very active, I was able to use these permissions for the following reasons: I could hide edits containing for example profanity and block vandalizing users.

I think these rights would be very useful to me. Regards, Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 21:11, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Good to see you again. I have a question to find out if you understand this tool. Please tell me if test-custodian is possible or not what you asked me before(revdel). Thanks. --Sotiale (talk) 11:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, version deletion is available for custodians. Regards, Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 14:00, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
If so, you can use revdel on the page you requested, right? --Sotiale (talk) 11:05, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I can when, for example, profanity is present. Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 11:08, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Not enough answer. This question was asked to see if you have an understanding of the policy to use this tool. As a test-custodian you can in principle only use permissions inside your incubating wiki. The language code of the page you asked me for revdel is not pl. So you can't use your permission on the page in principle. --Sotiale (talk) 11:32, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Fact, I couldn't use it on (if I'm not mistaken) Arabic Wikiverstity. I know that and I am aware that I can only use this right on pl. I understand the permission itself works. Ynnarski (podyskutujmy) 11:40, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
OK.. I hope you gain more experience, considering that many of the contributions have been made to translation since you last requested the tool, and you now understand the most important principles about the tool. I wonder what you think. --Sotiale (talk) 12:11, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
