- create a learning project on each independent language wikiversity and announce on the site.
- for each language create or improve the wikipedia article on en:w:International Year of Astronomy (and post a note to the talk page about the wikiversity learning project.)
- Wikinews - write an article announcing the IYA to coincide with the opening ceremony on Jan. 15-16, 2009 [1]
