Wikiversity talk:Motto
Add topicPage move?
[edit]I refer people to the page discussed here: Based on that, would anyone object moving this page to Wikiversity:Wikiversity, declaring its purpose to be not only "motto" but also "slogan" and the very name of the project (i.e. the name "Wikiversity" in many languages)? - Perhaps. But at the moment I would prefer something more descriptive and specific than wikiversity:wikiversity. There is also the page wikiversity:about (which is not much). Too many pages with vague and general names may lead to confusion. Hillgentleman|書 00:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I meant simply Wikiversity. I think Wikiversity:Motto is too limiting, when it really makes sense to have a number of these elements on the page together (Name, language, motto, slogan). Dovi 03:23, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps wikiversity in many languages, wikiversity projects in many languages, wikiversity language projects information... Hillgentleman|書 05:35, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- But isn't the idea to make such a chart as close to language-neutral as possible? For the similar Wikisource chart some of us even want to change words like "language" or "The Free Library" on top to language-neutral icons, but haven't found satisfactory ones yet... Dovi 05:23, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I see. Let's see how it works out. Hillgentleman|書 15:53, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikisource page updated with icons
[edit]If people here are still interested in this, you might want to see the parallel Wikisource page again. Besides being an incredible collection of "Wikisource - The Free Library" in many dozens of languages, I've made an initial attempt to replace English within the chart with language-neutral icons.
If people here want to, you can build something similar. It helps both to create a sense of community and cohesion amongst the many language communities of the project, as well as to help make "beta" a language-neutral center for the project in all languages. Dovi 10:38, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
motto update
[edit]What do you think about adding the motto/slogans from www.wikiversity.org? Though no link to consensus as such would be there. ----Erkan Yilmaz 16:40, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
