Dear Azimski, Welcome to Wikiversity!

It is great that Wikiversity Beta is multilingual. Please remember to put the pages into categories indexed by the ISO code - see Category:pages by language.

Are you sure the use of {{red}} is a good idea? "Red" usually means the colour red. Using it for a redirect may be confusing.

Happy writing. -Hillgentleman| 07:24, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

From the template talk:redir

[edit]

"Red" is a common word. Its common meaning is the colour red. It is better to avoid this naming. Anyhow, why do we need this template? Hillgentleman| 07:18, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

你好/Hi! I've changed the name of the template to make it less confusing, but I still owe an explanation why it was created in the first place. Well, the problem is that when I try to display a subpage in the main one (ex. {{Уикиверситет/Факултети}} or {{/Факултети}}) it displays not the subpage, but instead looks for a template of the same name. This reference type seems to work for wikis in other languages so I would like to use it in the Bulgarian one rather than create templates that belong in seperate pages not templates. At one point I gave up trying it te correct way and creating subpagese and I just used templates instead. If you can suggest any way to fix this I would be very thankfull. Do you mean the "subpage" function, such as enabled /here? We haven't enabled the subpage function for the template namespace. But we may file a bug for that, if there is demand. For the moment, it is good to use the FULLPAGENAME, such as user talk:Azimski/here. It will still work after the subpage function has been enabled. Hillgentleman| 00:42, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The actual problem is that on the french wikiversity the text {{{{FULLPAGENAME}}/Présentation de la faculté}} displays the subpage and not a template by that name. What you're refering to would be [[{{FULLPAGENAME}}/Présentation de la faculté]] which would not display the page itself, but rather link to it. I hope to have explained the problem clearly. If you have an answer, please write. Azimski 14:07, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

As I can see, it is because they have enabled the subpage function for the main namespace. For example, it works User talk:Azimski/here.Hillgentleman| 20:09, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! It seems to be exactly the solution I was looking for. Could you please tell me how I (or some administrator) could enable the subpage function as this has been somewhat of an issue for me on several wiki-projects? Best regards, Azimski 22:10, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

We need to file a bug. We may discuss at wikiversity:babel.Hillgentleman| 08:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Custodian

[edit]

Do you think the Bulgarian community can elect a custodian for wikiversity?Hillgentleman| 05:48, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am aware that there are only three of us working on the Bulgariang wiiversity, but I do think that some guidance is needed at times + I expect new members soon, since I have talked with some of the people working on other BG projects. In other words, I thin we can elect a custodian. Could you please tell me how the election proccess is to be done. Greetings, Azimski 07:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
There is no formal election process. But it should be someone whom the Bulgarians can trust and also the other wikiversiter can trust; Then we can ask user:Sebmol to give the custodian rights. Hillgentleman| 10:09, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I will set up a vote on the page УВ:Администратор (transcribed as "WV:Administrator"). I know the term custodian is to be used, but I have found no word that means the same in Bulgarian. Azimski 20:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Is there a term equivalent to cleaner or housemaster? Hillgentleman| 20:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
How about "keeper"Azimski 20:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
PS I have also found the term director in Bulgarian to mean headmaster/housmaster, but it appears a bit inappropriate.
Never mind, I discovered the word I found as "keeper" also means "custodian" thus making it the perfect candidate. The word it уредник - УВ:Уредници. Azimski 20:42, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Great. The custodian keeps the house clean. :-) Wikipedia and wiktionary should collect this word.Hillgentleman| 13:21, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Azimski 13:28, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
So far the voting has been official for 7 days and 3 out of the 4 people editing the Bulgarian Wikiversity have voted for and none against. I consider that to be a valid vote. First of all, I'd like to ask for your oppinion on the matter and if you agree with me i would like to know what the next step that needs to be taken is? Your admin status

[edit]

Hello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing of administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on BetaWikiversity, where you are an administrator. Since BetaWV does not have an own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies.

If you wish to retain your rights, you should notify the community that the stewards sent you this information about your inactivity to discuss the matter. Following your community's discussion, if the community then wants that you keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights.

We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard.
